This month we celebrate Emanuela Benedetti. Read on to find out more about Emanuela.
Emanuela Benedetti is a German and English to Italian translator based in Florence, Italy. Highly skilled in technical translation and a superb communicator, she is an important member of our team.
Emanuela is a graduate of linguistics from the University of Perugia and has a Master’s in Legal English from CTI Milano. A member of AITI (the Italian association of translators and interpreters), Emanuela specialises in technical translation and editing for industries including IT and software, patents and manufacturing. She has a keen interest in the food and drink industry and is a certified olive oil taster.
Emanuela began her career at an agency in Florence where she was a lead account manager and linguist for Google and Microsoft. For two of these years she worked with our social media and marketing manager, Lizzie. Together, Emanuela and Lizzie worked on a large project post-editing the earliest machine translation outputs for Google Italy, and are relieved to say things have improved a lot since then! Nowadays they share an espresso over Teams rather than in the local bar, but always enjoy a catch up when working together for BLS.
With her keen eye for detail and extensive knowledge of machine translation, Emanuela is a key member of our team for editing and MTPE (machine translation post editing) projects, particularly in the technical sector.
Emanuela’s favourite thing about working in translation is, without a doubt, the constant contact with different languages and cultures. Every project is a small window into a different world, and she finds that endlessly fascinating. She also loves the flexibility that comes with this kind of work – it allows her to manage her time in a way that suits both her professional and personal life.
When she’s not busy working on translations Emanuela is a regular at the gym and has a real passion for the arts. Cinema, theatre, music and books keep her busy and inspired. She is also a dedicated foodie with a particular soft spot for extra virgin olive oil and loves baking her own bread at home.
